Jeffree Star Platinum Ice Highlighting Palette Product Info, Description, First Impression + Arm Swatches

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]

The Jeffree Star Platinum Ice Pro Highlighting Palette contains 6 shimmery powder highlighters- 2 of which are original shades (Ice Cold + Lavender Snow) and 4 that are brand NEW shades. Each shade contains 7.0 grams (0.24 ounces) of product, giving the palette a total of 42 grams (1.44 ounces) of product. The highlighters have a shelf life of 12 months and are made in the USA.

The formula has an extremely light and powdery consistency that has hardly any fall-out or kick up… Straight away, I can tell that I won’t be getting my full, in-depth review out very quickly because it has already been a hassle to get some of the shades I have tried so far to come up on the face (for reference, so far I have used Pink Chill & Canary Bling) ..

This is a common with highlighting palettes in some cases but more-so with this palette. I always find that I have to look at my face under various different conditions/lights to actually see how a highlighter is showing up because different lighting and mirrors will tell you different things which can be so confusing. This is due to their reflective properties but it can make it hard to accurately see how a product looks. Again, I really do have to play with this palette WAYYYY more until I can say if I like it or not, and most of the time my first impressions change as I dig into the product!

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette Description, First Impressions + Arm Swatches!

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]

The Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette is a fully matte, powder eyeshadow palette that contains 12 shadesThree of the shades in the palette are larger than the others, and these 3 shades all contain 2.3 grams (0.08 ounces) of product. The other 9 shades in the palette contain 1.1 grams (0.04 ounces) of product, giving the palette a TOTAL of 16.8 grams (0.6 ounces) of product. It has a shelf life of 12 months and is made in the USA.

The Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette can be broken down into THREE quads- a Neutral Quad, a Cool Quad and a Warm Quad.

Each Quad contains 4 eyeshadows that can be categorised into 4 types – a Base shade, a Contour shade, a Define shade and a Highlight shade.

The Base shades in the palette are the larger one’s, and each quad contains 1 large shadow and 3 smaller shadows.

As you can see, all of the shades are powder and have a matte finish, and they therefore can be used for multiple things. You can use them to contour and highlight the face, to set makeup/control oil and shine, to fill in the brows and of-course, to define the eyes and create smokey, matte looks. This palette is also a really good one to have around when you are working with palettes that have all shimmery shades, or a limited amount of shadows with matte finishes.

I have only played with a few shades, and a full, in-depth, shade by shade review with eye swatches is coming as I play with and get to know the palette, but so far I have noticed that the quality is high. The eyeshadows blend out extremely easy and blend well. They are very powdery and have a lot of fall out, but I haven’t found that a major problem yet.

The Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour Palette can be purchased from Kat Von D Online and Sephora (Internationally)

Jeffree Star Family Collection Skin Frost Highlighter in Neffree Review + Swatches + Face Pics & DUPES

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]

Jeffree Star recently launched a NEW and exclusive Skin Frost shade called Neffree as part of his Family 2017 Collection and today I am going to be talking about and showing you photos, swatches and ways you can apply it, as well as dupe’s and similar shades by other brands on the market!!!

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]

The Jeffree Star Skin Frost in the Shade Neffree is a limited edition (as far as I know), shimmery, lavender pink highlighter that was released in the latest collection- the Family Collection. The highligher contains 15 grams – 0.53 ounces – of product, is made in the USA and has a shelf life of 12 months. For reference, all of this product information also applies to the permanent Skin Frost’s, meaning as a whole, the skin frost highlighters are CONSISTENT across the entire range which is a big, big bonus.

Neffree has a soft, powdery consistency and a blinding, shimmery/metallic finish. The formula is the exact same as the rest of Jeffree’s Skin Frost Highlighters, and performs and applies the exact same way they all do.

For those who don’t know, the Jeffree Skin Frost’s are honestly one of the most pigmented, blinding and intense highlighters on the market. They are SO intense that you do have to make sure you are applying them to the cheek area in good lighting or you will apply way to much and end up with a mess on your face.

The Skin Frost’s DO blend out fairly well, but when you apply too much, it can sometimes be hard to fix it by buffing it in, so you may have to wipe it off and try again if you go in with a heavy hand at first. I have applied them in dim lighting so many times only to take a photo with flash to realise the product is literally all over my cheeks, and doesn’t look pretty. You literally just need the lightest touch to get them on your cheeks. To really monitor how much you are applying, I recommend shining your phone torch on your face, which will show you exactly how you are going in terms of pigmentation.

The highlighter works with any brush – fan, buffer, etc- but I do find that it applies better to the cheeks with a fan brush. I think this may be because Fan Brushes disperse product more lightly to the face, whereas buffing highlighting brushes tend to dig the product into the skin which can be a problem when dealing with an intensely pigmented highlighter like Neffree. However, I found that it applied perfectly with a buffing brush as welll as a fan brush, I just had to use light touches.

Neffree isn’t just a highlighter for the cheek area and it can also be used on the eye area, and looks ABSOLUTELY beautiful dabbed over liquid lipstick’s. As you will see in the gallery and sections below, I applied Neffree all over my eye area, and I got a beautiful, dainty simple eye look that can be worn daily or worn for a glam look. This makes the skin frost extremely versatile, and you can get your money’s worth out of it.

All in all, I am ABSOLUTELY IN-LOVE with the Skin Frost in Neffree. It is my FAVOURITE skin frost for sure!!

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]
[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]

Neffree can be dusted al over the eye area to create a pretty, soft, shimmery eye.

[siteorigin_widget class=”SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget”][/siteorigin_widget]

As I said in my review above, the Jeffree Star Skin Frost in Neffree looks ABSOLUTELY EFFFFFFINGGGGGGGGG amazing on the lips. When you dust it over the lip colour with a fan brush, it adds this pop of frosty, lavender white highlight that makes any shade look metallic. It is just stunning!!

Here are some lip swatches with Neffree dusted over the top of them…….

When I got all of my Skin Frost’s out to see how close in shade they were to Neffree, my eyes automatically went to Princess Cut and Lavender Snow, which are the only two shades in the range that are very similar to Neffree.

Princess Cut is a whiter, frostier shade that has tiny bits of pink tinges but is majorly white.

Lavender Snow is a greyer, more purple toned shade than Neffree, but it has the same soft, frosty finish and looks pretty similar to it.

The Fenty Beauty Shimmer Stick in Starstruck is a luminous highlighter in stick form. The consistency of the highlighter is extremely soft, light, thin and slightly creamy. The texture is so different than any other highlighting stick I have tried, and it feels very dry and has no wetness or stickiness to it.

The finish is described as cream to powder and you can certainly notice this because the consistency is so dry and has no wet or damp feel to it. However, I would class the formula as more of a cream and certainly NOT a powder, but it is an extremely thin and dry cream that doesn’t have the consistency you typically think of when you hear the word creamy in relation to highlighting sticks.

Huda Socialiite collage d1d

Starstruck has high pigmentation and a high glow/shine intensity , and it is certainly more of a bright, intense highlighter and not a sheer one. The ratio of glitter to pigment is even, meaning there is a perfect mix of colour pay-off to shimmer/glitter pay-off and unlike some of the highlighters in the Fenty range (like Trophy Wife), it doesn’t have crazy levels of glitter that far exceed the pigmentation. It is also a glitter/shimmer that is built into the actual formula, meaning you will obviously not get any visible glitter fall-out (again, this is in contrast to Trophy Wife, which has tones of visible glitter).

You can wear the Starlight shimmer stick pretty much everywhere on the face and body, making it an extremely versatile product. You can obviously apply it to the cheek area as a highlighter, but it also works extremely well on the eye area as an eyeshadow and as a lip topper, aswell as a body highlighter and probably a million other things.

In terms of application, I did notice a few things. Firstly, you need to be in good lighting when you are applying it, and you will see different results in different lighting and mirrors. When I was first using it, I noticed that it wasn’t coming up in the slightly dark, dull lighting I was applying it in. However, when I looked at my face in good, bright lighting, I noticed that I had actually put way too much on, and I had WAY too much product on my face. It was an absolute mess and ever since then I have made sure to apply this under bright lighting.

Huda Socialiite collage d1

There are multiple methods and ways you can apply the highlighter. Firstly, you can swipe and/or dab the product directly onto the face, cheek or eye area using the actual stick, which is my preferred method because of how simple and easy it is. This method will not be an option for makeup artists who need to follow proper hygiene practices, and applying stick products directly to the face is considered by some as unhygienic. This is because the top of the product can hold onto things that were on the face from the previous application, but for the general consumer, I do not find a problem with applying it directly using the stick itself. What I do in order to try and keep the top layer of the product nice and relatively clean is to make sure that I swatch it on my hand/arm after I have applied it, which strips off the top layer that has just been directly on the face. Using a makeup wipe or something similar to wipe it over is also an option.

The second way you can apply Starlight is by using a makeup brush like a flat top or buffer brush. Here, you would dip into the stick and coat the brush, and then you would apply it directly to the face/eye area and build it up using the brush. Another option is to apply the product to the fingers, and then dab it wherever you want.

Huda Socialiite collage d1d

While all methods produce the same/similar results, applying the product straight to the face using the stick is going to give you a more pigmented finish more quickly, whereas you will have to keep going in and building it up using a brush, which will take longer. Using the fingers to apply the product is also a more quick option than using a brush, but ultimately, all methods of application will give you a high colour pay-off, the only thing that varies is the amount of time it takes to build it up.

There are also TWO ways (what I mean by ways is method) , to apply the Starlight highlighting stick -using swipping motions and dabbing/patting motions. When you swipe a product on, you are running it down ,up or across the face in one, slick move. When you dab/pat product on, you are buffing the product into the skin in little jumpy motions. Both of these methods work extremely well with the Starlight shimmer stick, but they do produce slightly different results.

If you swipe the product on the face, you get a extremely pigmented result pretty much straight away. If you dab/pat the product on, you gradually build the pigment up bit by bit. I usually use a combination of these two methods, first swiping things on to build that initial layer up, and then going back in using dabbing motions to add intensity and to blend the product out a bit.

Huda Socialiite collage d1

In regards to using a brush/the fingers to further blend the product out on the face, you have two options. You can leave it as it is because when the product applies, it applies pigmented but sheer enough that it already looks blended out. If you want to diffuse the product more into the skin,  you can pick up a buffer brush and work/blend the product in more so it’s not as noticeable. It will just depend on how much colour pay-off you get on application, and sometimes you will get a harsh line and you may need to blend things out a bit more and sometimes you won’t.

Huda Socialiite collage d1d

The packaging of the shimmer stick’s twisty tubes is absolutely amazing. They feel so so sturdy – the actual packaging and the stick of product both feel extremely strong. You get NO resistance or tugging when you apply it to the face, it just glides onto the skin without fight and feeling like it’s going to break, which is a MASSIVE problem with highlighting sticks as most brands make them so so thin that they are very flimsy and break when faced with just the tiniest bit of resistance. This is how you do any type of cream stick, you make it strong so it doesn’t feel like it will snap, and I give massive props to Fenty for this! In terms of functionality and appearance, the sticks are magnetic so can be connected with other sticks, and they are extremely visually appealing and feature beautiful nude packaging with halographic, reflective writing.

I am extremely happy with the Starlight Shimmer Stick by Fenty Beauty!! It has a beautiful, light, non-messy formula and applies extremely easy to the face. It can be used for so many things, and I love it so much as a highlighter, as an eyeshadow and as a lip topper. It is the perfect tone and shade for me and my pale skin, and while it is certainly pigmented and very opaque, it is such a soft subtle, white/yellow shade that is extremely flattering. The packaging is extremely sturdy and the consistency of the product is not weak, meaning the sticks can handle the resistance you get when you apply it directly to the face.

All in all, I LOVE this shimmer stick by Fenty Beauty and am keen to try more shades in the Shimmer Stick range!!

Fenty Trophy Wife Intro Prod Info

trophy wife side 2

Trophy Wife is a bright, gold highlighter that has a thin, powdery consistency with a lot of fine, glitter particles dispersed throughout. The highlighter is literally one of a kind, and I have not come across any other highlighter quite like it in my time beauty blogging and trying multiple highlighters from various brands along the way. It has high pigmentation and delivers an opaque, intense glow .

I would say that the ratio of pigment to glitter leans towards more glitter than pigment, but it’s hard to say because the shade is so intense and has a bright yellow color. If the highlighter was all glitter and no pigment, you would only see tiny bits of glitter but as I said, it seems like the glitter to pigment ratio is pretty even, give or take.My point here is that Trophy Wife has more glitter in it than most highlighters so you may be shocked when you first get it, but it’s truly beautiful!!

Application

In regards to application, I did have to play around a bit to find the best method and technique to use with the unique, glittery formula and consistency of Trophy Wife. I didn’t get the highlighting brush that Rihanna launched because I have ten million brushes, so I did have to experiment and play around with my own brushes to see which one would give me the best result.

I found that Trophy Wife applied best with flat, buffing brushes that have relatively tight, packed-together bristle. Here is some examples of buffing brushes with packed bristles that work well with glitter highlighters like this……

Fenty Beauty Trophy Wife Best Brushes 1cf

trophy wife side 2

The above brushes have the ability to apply products to the face with way more precision than other brushes with looser bristles. I usually apply highlighters with a fan brush, but because fan brushes have such loose bristles, slightly uncontrollable bristles, the  glittery consistent of Trophy Wife just doesn’t work well with them.

trophy wife side 2

You can use a fan brush to intensify and build up the highlighter once you have already packed it on, but if you try and pack it on from scratch with a fan brush, you are going to get a lot of fall out all over the face and you won’t get a lot of colour pay-off in the places you want. Think of it….. The formula is very light and glittery, so when you are dusting it over the face with a fan brush, it’s just going to fly everywhere. The ABH A17 Highlighting Brush worked best for me, but there are so many other similar brushes that you can use, just look for tightly packed bristles that you can control as opposed to fan brushes and others like them.

trophy wife side 2

Fluffy Eyeshadow Blending Brushes also work really well with Trophy Wife because they are more narrow and disperse product precisely to the cheek area. The fluffy brushes also work well when applying Trophy Wife to the eye area. This shade is SO BEAUTIFUL as an eyeshadow!!!!

Another thing I noticed is that you need to apply the highlighter in swiping motions, not patting motions. You can see what I mean in the video below, but when you are using patting motions, the glitter goes everywhere. When you use swiping motions however, the highlighter applies perfectly and precisely in one place, and the glitter doesn’t fall everywhere. Here is the video so you can see what I mean before I continue…

trophy wife side 2

As you can just image, when you are patting the highlighter onto the cheeks, you are giving the product room to fall everywhere. It will pretty much bounce everywhere every–time that you pick up the brush to pat again. When you use swiping motions however, the product has no room to go anywhere except where you want it, and you are not lifting your brush up enough to give it room to fly anywhere.

There is no denying that this highlighter is different than anything on the market, and some will love it and others will hate it, but I am seriously IN-LOVEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I am someone who loves intense highlighters, and this is sooo intense and so flattering. It also works as a BEAUTIFULLLL eyeshadow! Fenty Beauty has seriously killed it with this highlighter and I want MORE shades in this formula!!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter Palette in Light-Medium Shift Review + Swatches

Heyyyyy Beautiesssss

Urban Decay recently released two new face palettes called the Naked Skin Shapeshifter Palettes and today, I am going to be talking about and fully swatching the Shapeshifter Palette in Light-Medium Shift.

Urban Decay Shapeshifter Palette in Light-Medium Description/Review

The Urban Decay Naked Skin Shapeshifter Palette is a highlight, contour and color correcting palette that contains 4 powder and 5 cream shades. Each powder shade contains 3.7 grams (0.13 ounces) of product and each cream shade contains 2.15 grams (0.07 ounces) of product, giving the palette a total of 25.55 grams (0.87 ounces) of product. The palette has a shelf life of 24 months and is made in the USA.

UDSHAPESHIFTER6ddpowderf

The formula of the products in the palette is really, really good. I am going to talk about the powder shades first and then move on to the cream shades.

The powder shades all work perfectly, blend out easily and are very pigmented. I will say, they do have a lot of kick up, especially the two darkest contour shades. A verrrrryyy light tap of a brush into the product saturates it straight away, so make sure you just dip in slowly.  The kick-up is very easy to blow away and the powder is so light that when you blow it away, it won’t go all over the place and into the other products, so I can deffo deal with it. All of the powder’s in the palette have a matte finish except the Pearl Highlighter.

In regards to the shade scheme of the powder shades, I do really like it. The 2 Dark Contour shades are the exact shades I always use for my pale skin. They both blend out so beautifully on the face and don’t take long to build up. They don’t look muddy or dirty and as I said, are my perfect shades to contour with. The

UDSHAPESHIFTER6ddpowderf

The Light Powder Contour shade is more like a setting powder than a contour shade, but it works really good. I like to use it to set my concealer and fix up any greasiness from my foundation, and it’s a perfect shade for me.

The Pearl Powder Highlighter is also a perfect shade, but I will say, you do have to build it up a bit to get it really intense. It can certainly give a nice glow, but it is more subtle than intense.

The formula of the Cream products in the palette is also very good. The consistency of the products is your typical creamy consistency that are in palettes. All of the shades apply to the face perfectly with concealer brushes, and you can use your fingers if you want a quick swipe of color.

UDSHAPESHIFTER6ddcreamf

The shade scheme of the Cream side of the palette is also very good and accurate to my light skintone. The Dark Cream Contour Shade is very easy to apply and blend and like the powder contour shades, is very pigmented and doesn’t look muddy or dirty. A little product goes a long way so you don’t have to keep re-dipping your brush into the product. The shade is a tad bit dark than I would normally use, but it blends out so easily and can be buffed into the skin to make it a bit lighter.

The 3 Light Cream Contour Shades all have the same consistency, are matte and work amazingly. They are super creamy yet light and apply and blend into the skin so nicely. I wasn’t expecting the light shades to give much coverage because sometimes palettes like this have low coverage  cream shades, but the coverage is actually a nice medium that can be built up easily.

UDSHAPESHIFTER6ddcreamf

The light shades can be used for so many things. You can prep your eyeshadow with them as well as cut the crease when you are doing a cut crease look. They are also good for fixing up mistakes around the eyes and cleaning up any fall-out. Of course, they can be worn on the face to cover blemishes and can be used as color correctors, but my favourite thing about them is using them on the eyes.

The Pearl Cream Highlighter is a nice, subtle shimmery shade. It has to be built up if you want high shine because it is very light and not fully opaque. I like using this shade as a prep for highlighter on the brow bone, and dabbing it on top of other highlighters to get the intensity I want. Overall this is probably my least favourite product in the palette just because it is too subtle and I would rather wear powder highlighter.

UDSHAPESHIFTER1df

I have to say, the packaging and design of the Naked Shapeshifter Palettes is amazing!!! It is so compact and takes up hardly any space but contains ALL the products you need to do your face when it comes to contouring, highlighting and color correcting. As I said, the palette if fairly small but contains full sized products. It has three compartment type things – one on one side holding the powder shades, one on the other side holding the cream shades and a divider with a large mirror on it in the middle. You can flip between the two sides so easily, and can stand the mirror up so you can work with all of the products at once while looking in the mirror. The material is very sturdy, and you can feel that it is not going to break any-time soon and is not flimsy or sensitive, which is a must for products like this that are being flipped around all the time. I LOVE this concept and I think Urban Decay have absolutely nailed it with the Naked Shapeshifter Palettes!! I really do think this is going to make it into my makeup go-to’s, I am a big fan!

The Urban Decay Naked Shapeshifter Palette costs $70.00 AUD – $45.00 USD – and can be purchased from Urban Decay Online (USA), Sephora (USA) and Mecca Cosmetics (AU).

Now let’s get onto the shades and swatches babes!!!!!

Pixi X Maryam Maquillage NYC Strobe & Bronze Highlight and Contour Palette Review + Swatches

Heyyyy Beautiesssss

Pixi Beauty has a range of makeup items and today, I am going to be talking about and swatching the Pixi X Maryam NYC Strobe and Bronze Palette!!

Pixi X Maryam Maquillage Strobe & Bronze Palette Description/Review

PixiXMPic2jf

The Pixi X Maryam Maquillage Strobe & Bronze Palette is a powder cheek palette that contains 3 highlighters and 3 bronzers. Each highlighter and bronzer contains 1.8 grams (0.06 ounces) of product, giving the palette a total of 10.8 grams (0.36 ounces) of product . The palette has a shelf life of 18 months and was designed in the USA but made in China.

The formula of the highlighters and bronzers is really good. All of the products are highly pigmented but have barely any fall out at all. You do have to be careful how much product you apply at once because it is easy to build it up very pigmented but you want to do it slow to avoid mess. In terms of blend-ability, the highlighters blend out amazingly ( as most highlighters do), and so do the bronzers which is really good because not all bronzers blend well.

In regards to the shade scheme in the palette, I really like it and will get use out of most of the shades. I don’t know if I will use the one luminous bronzer shade in the palette, but I will deffo use the two dark matte powder shades. The highlighters all appeal to me too and I will mix and match them to create different type’s of glow’s and looks. The packaging is kind of cheap plastic, but I love the green colour scheme and it is light weight which makes it really good for travelling.

All in all, I really like the Pixi X Maryam NYC Strobe & Bronze Palette. It contains such versatile, perfect shades that I will be able to use together without needing to reach for anything else. It is also such a light palette to take with you on the go, and it is just an overall good product if you are looking for a new highlight and contour palette that won’t cost you a fortune but will work just as good as more expensive cheek palettes.

The Maryam X Pixi Strobe & Bronze Palette costs $39.50 AUD – $31.21 USD – and can be purchased from Cult Beauty and Pixi Online. I am also pretty sure Pixi products can be purchased at Target too.

Now let’s get into the shades and swatches babes!!!!!!
